WHAT TO WEAR!!

So excited that I get to do your couple, engagement, or senior session with you. Picking outfits for your session can be stressful. But, DON’T WORRY!! I have put together some guidelines for you that are specific to what works best with my shooting and editing style!

Just know to have fun and be creative, keep it simple and be yourself. The photo will reflect who you are as a senior, couple, or whatever it may be!!

But remember that these are guidelines, not rules. I want you guys to feel like and look like yourselves. So, don’t feel like you have to go on a shopping spree to make these photos good. You want to be able to look at your photos 30 years from now and say, “Wow that was so us or me ahah !” Wearing a good outfit is so important when it comes to your photos because sometimes certain outfits that look great in real life can be distracting in photos because sometimes certain outfits that look great in real life can be distracting in photos.

DRESS APPROPRIATE FOR THE LOCATION

Think about the location and environment of where we will be shooting at, and try to plan around that. If we are hiking in the mountains, make sure to bring hiking boots with you. If we are shooting on a sandy beach, it will probably look funny if you are wearing shoes. If we are shooting in snow, you probably won’t want to wear a short dress and heels. If it is cold, make sure to bring layers and extra warm socks for your shoes. If it is going to be hot, make sure you wear breathable clothing, and nothing you will pit out in! Never rely on heels to get you where you need to be.. I've watched many girls fall down or talk about their feet hurting. I Want you to be as comfortable as possible and hurting your feet won't be fun

MOVEMENT

Chances are you have seen my work, so you know how much I love movement. This is where the importance of feeling comfortable comes into play. If you are in restricting clothing, we will be restricted with what we can do - which is most of the session!

MUSIC

I love playing music at my sessions! If you want to play your own music, I suggest creating a Spotify playlist and then downloading it so you can play it even if we don't get service. If you don't, NO WORRIES I have plenty of fun playlists already made!

OUTFITS TO AVOID

  • Avoid colors that match the location. For ex: If your taking pictures in the woods or tall grass- DO NOT WEAR GREEN
  • Avoid wearing bracelets, big watches or other distracting things on your wrist. Wearing something that is distracting can take away from the image.
  • Avoid Neon, Lime green, salmon. Or neon orange, these colors can be very distracting from the location. They can also affect the color of your face, or can cause your skin to have different colors on it. This will be very unflattering and won't photograph very well.
  • Avoid bringing too many outfits. Bringing along multiple outfits is a great idea because it gives you a variety to pick from. But bringing your whole wardrobe is not necessary at all. Bring no more than 3 outfits.
  • Couples and families should avoid wearing matching clothes to keep the photos interesting. This is very important because matching outfits can make the image look like a blob and is not very flattering. Feel free to contact me for help.

OUTFITS TO GO FOR

  • wear neutral colors
  • wear different textures
  • wear & bring layers with you, say you're wearing a dress that is very flowy or loose, bring a belt. Flowy clothes can sometimes look unflattering. Having a belt can help you so much!!
  • wear flowy items... you're probably sitting there thinking you just told me not to. It’s somewhat true but some flowy items look better: I love it when people wear flowing clothes because they can make amazing action photos as they twirl.

OTHER HELPFUL TIPS

  • BE ON TIME  FOR YOUR SESSION- Being late for your session just makes you feel stressed out or even in a bad mood. If you're on time this will give you time to relax and enjoy yourself. Today is your day and you can talk to family or friends or even sit back and listen to music or even fix your makeup.
  • Bring a blanket or coat if it’s cold
  • GLASSES- glasses are personal choice. I feel like sometime glasses express your personality. Feel free to bring them with if you'd like, and we can always take some with or without them!!
  • Be prepared to have lots of fun with me!! We will listen to music or talk about life. I’ll make sure you look confident  in your photos. Get ready to have so much fun!!

I HOPE THIS HELPS. FEEL FREE TO EMAIL OR TEXT ME IF YOU'RE STUCK. I WOULD LOVE TO HELP YOU FIND THE PERFECT OUTFIT THAT FITS YOU AS A PERSON.
